The sun rises on the left, climbs to its highest point at midday and sets on the right; at night the moon follows the same arc through a sky full of stars. The colours fade between dawn, day, sunset and night, and the stars twinkle faintly.

It is a calm, glanceable way to see where you are in the day. The sun and moon follow a simple fixed schedule — up at 6:00, down at 18:00 — so this is a picture of the day, not an astronomical sunrise and sunset calculator. The time is written across the sky, and it works in any time zone, which makes it a lovely world-clock face.

Where it's useful

  • A calm ambient clock for a second screen
  • Seeing whether it is day or night in another time zone
  • A child-friendly day-and-night clock
  • A scenic full-screen clock for a lobby or stream

Three ways to use it

  • Clock — the time of day in your time zone or any city, in 12- or 24-hour form.

This face shows the time of day only; for a stopwatch or countdown pick another face from the gallery. Every face runs entirely in your browser, remembers your settings on this device, and can be embedded on your own page.

Questions

Does it show real sunrise and sunset?

No. The sun rises at 6:00 and sets at 18:00 every day for simplicity. It is not an astronomical calculator.

Does it have a stopwatch mode?

No. The sky only makes sense for the time of day.

Can I see another city's sky?

Yes. Choose a time zone and the sky shows that city's time of day.
