Time controls
A time control like 3+2 means three minutes each, plus two seconds per move. Choose how those extra seconds work:
- Increment (Fischer): the seconds are added to your clock after every move you make.
- Bronstein delay: after each move you get back the time you used, up to the delay — your clock never grows beyond where it started that move.
- Simple delay: your clock waits for the delay before it starts counting down each move.
- Sudden death: no extra time at all.
Choose Custom to set different times for each player, for handicap games. The top clock is rotated so the player across the table can read it.
Questions
How do I use an online chess clock?
Place the screen between the players. After you make your move, tap your own side of the clock: your time stops and your opponent's starts. The first tap starts the game.
What is the difference between increment and delay?
Increment adds time after every move, so your clock can grow. Delay only protects the time you would have used, so your clock never increases.
Can I use it for other games?
Yes — any game with two players taking turns, such as Go, Scrabble or backgammon.
