How speech timing lights work
Speech clubs and contests commonly show green when the speaker reaches the minimum time, yellow at the midpoint and red at the maximum. A 5–7 minute speech shows green at 5:00, yellow at 6:00 and red at 7:00. After red, the display flashes so the speaker knows they're over.
Tick Hide the time to show lights only, which many speakers prefer, or Count down to red to show the time remaining instead.
Questions
What do the green, yellow and red lights mean?
Green means the speaker has reached the minimum time, yellow means they're nearing the end, and red means the maximum time is reached. The display flashes once the speaker runs over.
Can I set my own times?
Yes — type any time into the green, yellow and red boxes, such as 2:30 or 150.
Can the speaker see it from a distance?
Press Full screen: the entire display becomes the colour of the current light, readable across a room.
